Job Description
The Bindery Operator will be responsible for operating equipment and processes to produce high quality finished products, including folding, cutting, binding and stitching.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various bindery equipment including, but not limited to Polar cutter, Stahl folder, Perfect binder and or Mueller Martini Saddle stitcher equipment
- Reviewing job tickets for specifications, quantities, label information, folding orientation, skid size, skid height, ship dates, and any special instructions.
- Operating equipment at required speeds while maintaining quality, waste, and safety standards.
- Troubleshooting and solving operating problems.
- Maintaining general knowledge and understanding of bindery processes and equipment.
- Performing routine and preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, belt/bearing changes, adjustments, replacing small parts, and repairs to equipment.
- Maintaining cleanliness of all equipment and work areas.
- Inspecting equipment for safety issues.
- Making adjustments to coordinate multiple workstations on a single machine.
- Monitoring quality, output, and productivity.
Skills
- Knowledge of all production processes related to bindery activities, equipment, materials, and products
- Demonstrated skill in operating machinery including bindery equipment
- Good understanding of primary causes and remedies for various quality problems
- Can work independently and with others
Qualifications
- General knowledge of all production processes related to bindery activities, equipment, materials, and products.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently operate bindery equipment.
