Job Description
As the Converting Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the die cutting and finishing operations to meet safety, quality, productivity, and other operational goals and objectives. You will work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure the smooth daily operation of the facility and support continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- The ability to handle multiple tasks, work rapidly, plan, vary work pace, remain attentive to details, and concentrate amid distractions is desirable.
- Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving results and a desire to advance within the organization.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Minimum 5 years as supervisor of either a die cutting or finishing department.
- Must have technical & general experience in sheetfed and converting operations.
- Union experience a plus
Qualifications
- Reviews die layouts with the estimating and CAD departments. Makes improvements to, and/or offers suggestions to the layout to achieve maximum performance during the press run.
- Must be able to handle frequent interruptions, changing priorities and re-formulation of plans.
- Direct the production of all items to meet established specifications in terms of quality and quantity, while minimizing costs.
- Collaborate with other departments in the plant to establish and carry out responsibilities.
- Manage employees by setting performance goals, allocating resources, and evaluating performance.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
- Provide guidance and direction to cutting and finishing employees to improve quality, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
