Job Description
The Structural Designer must be able to provide efficient, timely and creative packaging solutions in a converting/finishing environment. This position must have the ability to develop design solutions for cost effective, structurally sound primary and secondary packaging for a variety of markets to include some very large retailers.
Responsibilities
- Develop design solutions in a converting/finishing environment
- Create packaging prototypes
- Ensure all designs meet customer, as well as factory, requirements
- Follow internal procedures to ensure proper design protocols are followed
- Remain up to date on new packaging trends, material and technology
- Proactively participate in discussing design projects with sales, customers, outside vendors and other departments
- Be able to interpret direction from customer, sales and management to develop packaging solutions
- Perform system backup and file archiving / administration as assigned
- Perform weekly maintenance at the direction of the Sales Manager
Skills
- Must have excellent oral communication, written communication and phone skills
- Must be highly proficient in Artios CAD and/or Impact Software and Microsoft Office
- Must be a self-starter and able to work without close supervision
- Must be innovative and rise to challenge of finding new ways to approach design, costing scenarios and production capabilities
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of packaging design experience required.
- Corrugated retail display experience required.
- Preferred have Kongsberg table experience.
- Strong understanding of Artios CAD, Artios 3D, Impact CAD, CAPE, Adobe Softwares, Solid Works, Hybrid Workflow, Microsoft Suite
